AFRL Regional Hub Network – Midwest

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Regional Hub Network – Midwest at Purdue University is a pilot initiative designed to create a new science and technology ecosystem for partners from universities, businesses, government agencies, and venture capitalists.

The AFRL Regional Hub Network – Midwest will enable AFRL scientists and engineers to engage and collaborate with regional ecosystems. Together, they will address defense-related issues by providing workforce development opportunities for AFRL scientists and engineers. Regional research hubs will aim to leverage research, translation, and workforce success while integrating stakeholders to encourage meaningful innovation in science and technology.

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Regional Hub Network – Midwest at Purdue University is dedicated to developing strong relationships between AFRL scientists and engineers and partners to address defense-related issues – a collaboration will provide access to valuable resources as well as seedling funding for projects. The regional research hubs will also integrate stakeholders, encouraging science and technology exchanges and driving innovation. AFRL will then gain access to new technologies and ideas that lets it accelerate the translation of science and technology to the warfighter and commercial markets. This brings significant benefits to AFRL, the Air Force, and the Defense Department.

Purdue University has a strategic technology focus on energetic materials, hypersonics and microelectronics.
