EAA AirVenture Oshkosh – 2024
EAA AirVenture Oshkosh – 2024
Start Date: Jul 22, 2024
End Date: Jul 28, 2024
The organization that develops, delivers, and sustains nearly every U.S. Air Force weapon system – the Air Force Materiel Command – will be center stage at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 from July 22-28 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Attendees will get an opportunity to learn how the Air Force Research Laboratory, part of the Air Force Material Command, leads the research and development of warfighting technologies for the Air Force and Space Force. AFRL will showcase its rich history in aviation with interactive exhibits.
Visitors can experience:
- An interactive touch display highlighting the X-15. The X-15 is a famous and significant part of aviation history. Its purpose was to fly high and fast, testing the machine and subjecting pilots to conditions that future astronauts would face. It made the first manned flights to the edges of space and was the world’s first piloted aircraft to reach hypersonic speeds, or more than five times the speed of sound. The X-15 was an important tool for developing spaceflight in the 1960s, and pilots flying above 50 miles altitude in the X-15 earned astronaut wings.
- An AFRL Timeline, highlighting major accomplishments of the lab from the beginning of the Air Force to current operations.
- The AFRL Robotic Dog onsite to demonstrate its potential use as a security asset for facilities and extensive test ranges.
- Chatting with AFRL aviation experts and our personnel team.
