Faster Technology Refresh

We’re leading the charge to change the paradigm of single weapon solutions to modular sub-system solutions. Scientists and engineers have developed a common architecture that enables weapon subsystems to achieve unique capabilities while allowing technology refresh at the pace of discovery in an affordable and sustainable design.

Working with defense industry partners, we have successfully released the first version of an open architecture enabling interface control document (ICD). This ICD governs how different weapons components communicate with one another, regardless of the company that builds the component. An easy way to think of it is like a USB flash drive. A flash drive can be recognized by any make and model of computer, television, and other electronics because a standard has been created that allows it to communicate with those systems. This standard is now being implemented into new weapons prototypes and it promises to revolutionize the pace in which weapons technologies are refreshed.
