AFRL Sensors Directorate Learning Office kicks off Wright Connections Mentoring Program
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – The Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate kicked off the Wright Connections Mentoring Program provided by the Sensors Directorate Learning office March 6.
At the opening event, mentors were matched with mentees and had the opportunity to learn a little bit about one another.
“The kick-off event was a great opportunity for all mentors and mentees to get to know each other, hear from our director about her passion for mentorship, and receive some formal guidance, resources and education about mentorship,” said Lt. Col. James Sattler, the Sensor Plans & Advanced Programs Division Chief, who is a mentor in the program.
The goal of Wright Connections is to promote higher employee engagement, retention and knowledge sharing with the goal of positively shaping the future workforce.
“These opportunities help ensure we are nurturing and growing future scientists, engineers, and leaders for the Air Force of tomorrow,” said Sattler. “It ensures our younger workforce is exposed to mentoring so they remember to provide it for the junior force in the future.”
Looking forward, the mentors and mentees will meet monthly to discuss a topic of the mentees’ choosing, as well as attend events and activities put on by the Learning Office.
“It was an exciting, educational, empowering and fun event for all. This is just the start of what promises to be a great year with continuing activities to build on the excellent opening event,” said Simone Koram, the AFRL Sensors Directorate Learning Officer.
The Wright Connections Mentoring Program allows experts in their respective career fields to connect with junior force employees and enhance professional development opportunities at the Sensors Directorate.
